Dev-C++ v 4.9.9.2 IDE
When I compile and run my program as a console project, a window flashes very briefly on the screen and disappears. The compile log says compilation was successful and execution terminated.

Is there any option (e.g. Command wrapper or something similar) that would allow me to pause the output of the command (just the output on the screen, I don't mind the command running in the background), then unpause it after I take a look on its output? To check whether the file exists or not, you can try opening it for input and see if it's open. If it's not open, it means it doesn't exist. If it doesn't exist, opening it for output will automatically create it. I have a command which outputs lots of data (say, strace with lots of syscalls, running for a few minutes). Is there any option (e.g. Command wrapper or something similar) that would allow me to pause the output of the command (just the output on the screen, I don't mind the command running in the background), then unpause it after I take a look on its output?
How to I keep the window (my output window?) from disappearing?

You have to add a line just before the end of main() to stop the program from closing. Most people call getch() or c++ cin.get(), which is just waiting for keyboard entry.

If you are using turbo C then use getch() not getchar(). Its in the header file conio.h.
